ABOUT US!
Nechamie Fajnland grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where she attended Beth Rivka Elementary and High School, before continuing her post-graduate studies in Tzfat seminary in Israel, and Collage of Staten Island where she obtained her BS and MA in special education.
Nechamie’s vivacious personality, coupled with her unique talents and people skills has made her a highly sought-after teacher and community leader.
Nechamie’s great cooking and vibrant passion for Judaism continues to be a phenomenal attraction for Jews of all types and stripes.
Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Rabbi Leibel was ordained in 2001 at Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in New York, and is a dynamic and energetic Rabbi, with an exceptional knack for teaching and connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Rabbi Leibel spent his Yeshiva and post-Yeshiva years travelling the globe, eventually ending up in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he did his internship in Rabbinics and outreach work (as well as bunjee jumped the highest jump in the world). During the two years that he was in SA, he taught at the Yeshiva College, and the Torah Academy Boys High School, and regularly lectured to the wider community at TA, Sydenham, Oxford and Pretoria Hebrew Synagogues.
Opening a Chabad Center was something Leibel & Nechamie always knew they wanted to do. Because while people may see themselves as unaffiliated, Reform, Conservative or Orthodox. Chabad sees all Jews as just being Jewish. No labels. No differences. Chabad of Reston-Herndon is modeled on this approach. It is a home for every kind of Jew in our wider community. We make no judgments or have any expectations, everyone is welcome to explore their heritage at their own pace.
